Wireless hotspot providers such as CarWiFi and CarWiGo have joined forces to invest a further $50m in a US car Wi-fi network discovery company.
CarWiFi, which has built its name on the use of WiFi hotspot technology to connect vehicles with other drivers, has also joined forces with US-based WirelessCarCo.
CarFi will provide the car wireless service, which will connect drivers to wireless hotspots.
It said the company will also offer vehicle navigation, security, and telematics services.
CariWiFi has previously teamed up with Apple, Google, and others to develop car connectivity solutions.
The company has also partnered with Google to build an Android smartphone app.
